ITANAGAR, 11 Feb: The second badminton championship of the Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) here got underway at the Dorjee Khandu Indoor Badminton Stadium on Saturday.
ICR SP Jimmy Chiram, who inaugurated the competition in the presence of DDK Itanagar Programme Head Mahesh Sharma and others, commended the organisers “for encouraging the members of the state’s media fraternity to participate in sports.”
He advised the partici-pants to give their best not just in the tournament but in everything that they do in their lives.
“Somebody will always become number one when you participate in competitions, but the actual winners are the participants,” Chiram said.
Also present on the occasion were DDK Itanagar Deputy Director (Engineering) SP Kanchan, Assistant Directors A Nimje, L Gururajan, S Tatwadi and Goi Gara, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists General Secretary Sonam Jelly, and organising committee general secretary Lipi Nyodu.
Shuttlers from DDK Itanagar and the Arunachal Press Club are participating in the two-day event, which will conclude on Sunday.
