ITANAGAR, Mar 5: A delegation of Ajing United Club (AUC) headed by its chief advisor Tanya Agu on Monday called on Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and submitted a memorandum appealing to the state government to protect the Indira Gandhi Park, which is the lone park of the state capital.
“Most of the time, IG Park hosts various government and private events. This has damaged the natural beauty of the park and is threatening its very existence. The government should acquire separate ground for organizing events within the vicinity of Itanagar and develop it on the line of the heritage village of Nagaland with permanent structures, which will also save the government exchequer,” the AUC proposed in the memorandum.
The AUC also urged the deputy chief minister to keep separate fund under the budget to acquire land for permanent event ground and save the IG Park from pollution.
The AUC chief advisor briefed the importance of the lone park (IG Park) and the perennial use of the park for numerous events which is deteriorating the park.
While responding to the representation of AUC, DCM Mein appreciated the concern and proposal brought forward by the AUC.
