NEW DELHI, 31 Aug: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik, who is on an official tour of the national capital, laid a wreath at the National War Memorial here on Thursday and paid homage to the valiant martyrs of the Indian armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the nation.
“The national war memorial is testimony to the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian armed forces. Their noble deeds will continue to inspire generations of our citizens to uphold this noble tradition and ensure that the honour and safety of our country remains untarnished,” Parnaik said.
He reached out to each of the notable plaques of the 23 martyrs from Arunachal, of whom seven are gallantry awardees, including Havildar Hangpan Dada, Ashoka Chakra (posthumous), and paid floral tributes.
While signing the visitors’ book at the war memorial, he left a message, underscoring the importance of perpetuating the memory of the nation’s soldiers.
“I humbly salute the bravehearts who continue to shine like the stars in the sky and who put the nation above self,” he wrote. (Raj Bhavan)
