Where does donated blood go?

Editor,

‘6,226 units of blood collected in state’, as per data, was the headline in yesterday’s daily.

However, every day, either a post or a status on social media states, “Urgently looking for (such and such) blood type.” But our blood bank never serves its purpose. It has never met the urgency of one.

So, the question is: where does all the donated blood go? Every now and then a blood donation is organised for various purposes and on various occasions. It is free blood to help the needy, not to be kept warm in someone’s bank.

Many have lost their loved ones, but money makes the good ones blind because they are not wearing the shoes of the deprived. There are numerous problems which could be solved in the term of five years, but the first thing that the elected representatives do is take their revenge, transferring government officials. Hence, it is a matter of concern.

Free blood is donated with love. Therefore let the love run in the veins of the needy.
