State-level workshop on PRI-CBO convergence

ITANAGAR, 28 Jul: A two-day state-level workshop on ‘PRI-CBO convergence’, organised by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) at the banquet hall here, concluded on Sunday.

Earlier, attending the inaugural function, RD & PR Minister Ojing Tasing commended the PRI-CBO convergence initiative led by the ArSRLM, with the support of Kerala-based Kudumbashree National Resource Organisation, in four pilot blocks – Roing, Namsai, Sagalee and Yachuli.

“Realising the potential of PRI-CBO convergence to contribute to the overall development of rural areas,such initiative should be taken up in all blocks of the state,” the minister said.

He also advised SHGs to “be vigilant towards the drug menace in the society and do your bit in preventing the menace.”

Union Rural Development Ministry Joint Secretary Smriti Sharan, through videoconference, requested the state government to “continue with the support and take forward the universalization approach for PRI-CBO convergence in the state.”

Sharan also expressed appreciation for the ArSRLM’s initiative and for it’s “being among the frontrunners in the PRI-CBO convergence initiative in the country.”

State RD & PR Secretary Dr Sonal Swaroop spoke on the significance of the workshop, and stressed on the need to have a platform “where the SHG members and the PRI leaders could come together and bring about transparency in the rural development of the state.”

Sharing his experience of being part of the PRI-CBO convergence, Roing block ZPM Arun Pertin acknowledged “the contribution of SHG members and their federations in Roing block in the overall development of the villages.”

Various other stakeholders, including SHG members and beneficiaries, also shared their experiences of being part of the PRI-CBO convergence.

“The workshop was organised to share the experience of PRI-CBO convergence in the four pilot blocks,and to develop a strategy for taking up PRI-CBO convergence across the state,” stated a release.

Inputs from various line departments are also being taken into consideration to develop the strategy.

PRI leaders, SHG representatives from various cluster-level federations, district and block officials of the ArSRLM, and representatives from various line departments attended the workshop.
