Tawang gears up for zonal round of 20th Tadar Tang football tourney

TAWANG, 21 Feb: Tawang district is gearing up for the zonal round of the 20th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament for the west zone.

The tournament is scheduled to be held at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium here from 17 to 23 March.

Addressing a preliminary coordination meeting at the DC’s conference hall on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang emphasised the need for coordination and cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the successful conduct of the tournament.

Tawang District Football Association president Urgen Dorjee provided details regarding the participating teams and the logistical arrangements required for the comfort of players and officials.

He sought the support of the Indian Army and various civil departments to facilitate the smooth execution of the event.

Earlier, District Sports Officer (i/c) Sangey Tsering highlighted the need for minor renovations at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium and urged the departments concerned to ensure necessary arrangements.

Tawang Olympic Association president Dr Rinchin Neema and Lt Colonel Digvijay of the Tawang Brigade shared inputs and assured their full cooperation for the event’s success.

Superintendent of Police Dr DW Thongon, executive members of the District Football Association and the District Olympic Association, representatives from the Tawang Brigade, and officers of the departments concerned attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
