DIRANG, 1 Aug: On 27 June, a cloudburst hit Dirang town and its adjoining areas in West Kameng district. Even though no lives were lost, it damaged properties, both private and government-owned.

In the Sapper area, houses belonging to local people were damaged. The 90 Road Construction Company (RCC) of the 42 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), based in Dirang under Project Vartak was among the first to respond and come to the rescue of the locals.

Apart from ensuring the safety of the civilians, they helped in restoration activities. The team promptly mobilized from their base in Sapper and undertook immediate evacuation efforts, safely relocating affected civilians to secure areas.

The team undertook restoration of the civilian houses on a war footing and completed it. “We remain committed to supporting the local communities and maintaining operational readiness to handle emergencies across the region,” said an official of Project Vartak.
