Seeking clarification from APPSC

Editor,

I would like to seek a clarification from the APPSC with regard to seemingly not upholding the 1:12 ratio in the recently declared Arunachal Engineering Service Examination-2025 recruitment test result for civil and agriculture engineering.

As per the advertisement, it was clearly mentioned that the number of candidates to be selected for the mains would be in 1:12 ratio, ie, 12 times of total advertised posts. The total posts advertised for civil and agriculture engineering were 136 in various departments whose 12 times works out to be 1,632 candidates. However, as per the result, only 1,619 candidates have been selected – 1,205 candidates in the PWD, PHED, UD & Urban Local Bodies Department list for civil engineering. And another 414 candidates have been selected in RWD, WRD and Hydropower Department list for civil and agriculture engineering. In total, only 1,619 candidates have been selected, whereas it should have been 1,632 candidates for 136 posts.

Further, in the second list, many civil engineering candidates’ roll numbers have been repeated, which, if the total selected candidates is excluded, will be even less than 1,600. Then how come the required ratio has been maintained?

Also, what’s the whole logic behind this, and is it not depriving some candidates from making it to the list by 1-2 marks (even if assuming 1,619 is the required number to be selected) because many roll numbers have been repeated in the two separate lists prepared? Should not the total candidates selected as per 1:12 ratio mean only one candidate once and not one candidate twice in the list?

In view of above mentioned facts, the commission is requested to issue a clarification in this regard immediately.
