Editor,

We would like to draw attention to the repeated postponement of the post graduate teacher (PGT) examination by the APPSC.

The PGT recruitment test, originally scheduled for 12 October, has now been deferred to 2 November. The notification announcing this came on the very same day and time that the AESE (assistant engineer) mains examination was postponed from 27/28 September to the first week of November. This clearly indicates that the ‘administrative reason’ behind the deferment of the PGT exam is linked to the AE examination.

If this is indeed the case, it is both illogical and unfair. The PGT exam was barely two weeks away, and by this stage, the question papers would have already been printed. There should be no connection between the scheduling of AE and PGT examinations. Candidates preparing for PGT should not have to bear the brunt of unrelated examinations.

The PGT exam has suffered repeated delays and cancellations in the past. The last PGT exam was held in 2019, while in 2022 the scheduled mains exam on 5 and 6 November was also cancelled due to the infamous controversy of paper leakage. Now in 2025, aspirants are once again facing the same fate. Such repeated deferrals raise serious doubts over the commission’s credibility and administrative competence.

These constant postponements waste the prime years of aspiring candidates, and demoralize us who are working tirelessly day and night for this particular exam. Aspirants deserve clarity, stability, and timely conduct of examinations. Since the formation of the new commission the candidates had high expectations from them, but in vain. We request the newly joined secretary madam with folded hands to kindly look into the matter and deliver timely justice to us deprived candidates.

We request the commission to ensure that the postponed PGT exam is not postponed anymore in the future, whatever the ‘administrative reason’ may be. And if so, kindly reform the administration into becoming student-friendly and approachable, without last-minute changes in every exam, upholding the faith of thousands of candidates whose careers are at stake under the APPSC.

Further, if at all the exam is conducted on time, it should be purely on the basis of merit, and no instances of the past should be repeated.
