ITANAGAR, May 5: ‘Aajeevika and Kaushal Vikas Mela’ was organized across the state on Saturday as part of the final leg of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
Attending the state level Aajeevika evam Kaushal Vikas Mela here, Rural Development Minister Alo Libang said development and empowerment of women is essential for development of the state and the nation as a whole.
Hailing the efforts of ArSRLM in empowering the rural women in the selected blocks under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY NRLM) programme, the minister informed as on date, the DAY NRLM has been implemented in 12 districts and 15 CD blocks.
He called upon the senior representatives from various banks, including APRB, NABARD, Apex Bank, YES Bank to come forward and support the initiatives for ensuring cent percent financial inclusion in the state.
Parliamentary Secretary (RD, PR and IPR) Mama Natung said the real strength of the state lies with the people.
“The people of the state are realising the subtle changes that the state has been witnessing under the present NDA Government,” he said.
Social worker Jarjum Ete thanked the state government for providing much needed autonomy to ArSRLM in implementation of the DAY NRLM from the recruitment to physical implementation of the programme.
Secretary (RD, PR) Bidol Tayeng highlighted the various initiatives being taken under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
Special Secretary RD & PR Nyali Ete also spoke.
Representatives from APRB, NABARD and YES Bank also shared their opinion on the occasion.
The programme was attended by senior officials from SIRD & PR, departments of PR and RD, Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, women SHG members, officials of ArSRLM and selected invitees.
Attending the programme at Ziro, Lower Subansiri, Parliamentary Secretary Tage Taki said, “Swaraj in today’s context can be attained only when every individual in the society becomes self reliant and performs a self-sustaining and income generating activity.
“A self dependent person will be free from poverty and all other issues arising out of poverty. This is the very aim of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan,” he said.
Taki also committed to solving the irrigation problem by tapping water from the Pange River and completing the community fencing as early as possible.
“A society will be a forerunner in every aspect of development only when the women are empowered,” said Zilla Parishad Chairperson Hage Kobing. He exhorted the women participants to utilize the opportunity to learn more about SHGs and its correlation with the banking sectors.
Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar called for creating an effective monitoring and feedback mechanism for all the flagship programs by the concerned implementing departments.
PK Das, deputy director Industries, Prabin Hazwwary chief manager of SBI, Ziro and Dr Tsewang Dorjee, BMM of ArSRLM explained about various provisions and programs under Aajeevika and Kushal Vikas Mela.
A documentary on Aajeevika was also screened on the occasion.
ADC Nending Chatung and more than 600 women from 32 SHGs attended the programme.
Similar (Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas) melas were also organized in Roing (Lower Dibang Valley), Palin (Kra Daadi), Namsai, Sagalee (Papum Pare), Seppa (East Kameng) and Hayuliang (Anjaw).
Celebrating the day at Seppa, BDO Deepak Pabing briefed the gathering about the objectives and salient features of the event.
Cluster Coordinator Tage Yassung highlighted about the various modes of livelihood generation and status of livelihood interventions and SHGs in the district.
She also briefed about the ways and means of capitalization and financial management of an SHG.
DAH&VO M Modi, DDA U Bahar, DFDO H Tajo and ADI N Doka were the resource persons of the interactive session organized during the events. They enlightened the gathering about various livelihood schemes being implemented by their respective departments and urged everyone to avail the benefits at the fullest. They also assured to provide all possible assistance for socio-economic development and welfare of the society.
Success story of SHG named Pampoli Dunne Group was narrated in the programme.
A promotional film on aajeevika being prepared by ArSRLM was also screened during the event.
Thirty-odd SHGs, mostly managed by women, and over 200 female participants were present in the event.
The mela for Roing Koronu CD Block was held at the Reko of Cheta, Roing in the presence of ADC Cheshta Yadav, ZPC Sipi Elapra Linggi, PD DRDA, DD ICDS, Officers from Agriculture and Industries departments and representatives from Rural Bank and SBI, Roing.
While explaining the objective of Gram Swaraj Yojana, Roing ADC Cheshta Yadav advised all SHG members to learn about the various schemes and spread the information so that the public can participate and avail the benefit of the schemes.
She also asked all the government departments and banks to prioritise giving benefits to the SHGs.
The ADC commended the ArSRLM, Lower Dibang Valley team for actively working to form 98 SHGs in the district since 2016.
The day at Namsai was observed with participation of around 500 village women and public took part in the prorgramme.
Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma eloquently explained about all the seven schemes of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and the facilities made available under the schemes.
ADC and Project Director B Talukdar urged the gathering to avail the facilities of the schemes.
The representatives of various SHGs also shared the benefits of RLM.
Distribution of certificate from ArSRLM, presentation on success stories were other highlights of the day.
The day was organized at Gilo Tabing, Palin, where around 20 female SHGs and more than 60 women active member participated in the programme.
Palin (HQs) ADC S. Lowang Lowang, who is also PD DRDA highlighted few government schemes under rural development and urged the women groups to avail various government avenues.
Circle Officer Yowa Anya encouraged the women to become financially literate. She opined that every woman should have at least a bank account and must know how to save money. She said financial independence of a woman can bring about overall welfare of a family.
Agriculture Development Officer Tojo Basar informed about few agricultural schemes where SHGs can play a major role, while SBI Branch Manager spoke on Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana & PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. He also distributed Jan Dhan forms during the programme.
The ArSRLM Sagalee block also celebrated Aajeevika Kaushal Vikas Mela with women SHGs. On the occasion, three best SHGs of Sagalee block –Nijir Ane Group, Tapu Hapa Group, Mother Theresa Group-were awarded.
