ITANAGAR, Jun 9: The Itanagar unit of the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and the Young Mission Adventure Club (YMAC) jointly organized a ‘social service-cum-awareness programme on community-based ecotourism’ at Thupten Ga Tseling Gompa here on Saturday.
The programme was conducted under the Swachch Bharat summer internship programme.
YMAC member Domen Riba informed that the YMAC is a local non-profit NGO, and will be carrying out a series of social service and awareness camps in outskirt villages.
“It is a two-month-long programme, and the main objective of the programme is to create awareness about community-based ecotourism for strengthening the capacity of the local communities for sustainable livelihood development and conservation of biodiversity,” Riba said.
The next programme will be held at Akkar Yomcha in West Siang district.
Fifteen students and members of the NYK state unit, accompanied by YMAC members, participated in the programme.
