Through your esteemed daily, I, being a Assistant Professor aspirant would like to clear the confusions and claims by some M Ed holders.
The hardest task for me is to accept that M Ed is equivalent to M.A in Education. M.A in Education is an academic qualification, whereas M. Ed is just a professional course.
In UGC norms, M A in Education and M Ed are not equivalent degrees. Many states and UT’s may treat both the degrees equally according to the education system of the respective state or UT, but according to UGC norms, these two degrees are not equivalent as of now.
Everyone knows that education department of the Rajiv Gandhi University is offering M.Ed and B. Ed programmes. It is the only reason why M.Ed holders are accepted for the post of Assistant Professor without M.A. in Education.
These few lines are not for debate further and not to hurt the sentiment of the M.Ed holders but to clear the confusion.
I expect the APPSC to strictly adhere to the laid down norms of UGC for greater interest of future aspirants of state.
