YUPIA, Jul 10: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda urged registered workers to avail of the benefits under the state government- and centrally-sponsored schemes.
During a distribution programme of the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) here on Tuesday, Dr Beda called for spreading awareness on labour welfare laws to prevent exploitation, and directed DLO (in-charge) Yaker Dawe to hold a meeting with the Life Insurance Corporation for enrollment of all the workers of the district under the PMJYBY and the PMJSY.
Speaking on the benefits being provided to the workers, Papum Pare Registering Officer Koj Kano said “the board has, with the active and innovative ideas of present chairman Jalley Sonam, rolled out many benefits towards its registered workers.”
He lauded Sonam for serving the labour community for over 25 years.
“It was during his chairmanship that many benefits were introduced for the first time and saw massive registration from all over the state,” Kano said.
Kano also informed that statutory benefits like medical assistance, tools advance, maternity assistance, housing loans, death benefits, funeral assistance, accidental benefits, etc, “are being enhanced from their present amounts.”
Information on the procedure of registering with the board was also given, and the workers were urged to pay their monthly premium of Rs 20 regularly, so that they are not deprived from receiving benefits.
Registered workers under the APB&OCWWB were provided with solar lamps, raincoats and mosquito nets.
Earlier, the DC on behalf of the board handed over cheques to registered workers under the APB&OCWWB’s education assistance.
