ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has alleged that the BJP government in the state allotted work for renovation and beautification of the civil secretariat, MLA Cottage and Raj Bhavan for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi without floating tender.
“Awarding of contracts to Ganpati Construction without floating any tender in total violation of laid down rules is illegal and unfair practice for executing any government work,” the APCC stated in a press release on Friday, adding that the BJP government was becoming an expert in corrupt practices.
It also alleged that the same process was applied in the construction of an auditorium in Namsai.
Citing information gained through the RTI Act, the Congress also alleged that all the government projects in Tawang district were also awarded without floating any tender, and questioned how the PWD could bypass the age-old system of floating tenders.
The APCC further alleged that the third-party monitoring system was being neglected.
“Third party monitoring with photographic and videographic proofs is mandatory in all projects under SIRD, SADA and SPA. The system introduced by former Congress chief minister Dorjee Khandu had won national level acclaim and strictly followed by his successor Congress chief minister Nabam Tuki,” stated the APCC, and alleged that the CMO and the Raj Bhavan, instead of interfering were maintaining a stoic silence while the third-party monitoring system was being overlooked.
Reminding Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his famous promise, “Na khaunga, na khane dunga,” the APCC asked whether rampant corrupt practices of the BJP government in Arunachal were not contrary to Modi’s promise.
The Congress also challenged the state BJP leaders to come clean on the corruption allegation levelled by it.
