The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Dr BD Mishra is currently on a three day tour to Namsai, which has been selected as aspirational district by the state government. Governor is reviewing all the schemes and programmes being undertaken under ‘aspirational district’ in Namsai. It is the prerogative of state government to select any districts under this scheme launched by government of India. However there is no denying that there are several other districts which are extremely backward in compare to Namsai. For example the newly created districts like Kra Daadi and Lower Siang are in much worse condition than aspirational district Namsai.
As per the information provided in NITI AAYOG website, ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme aims to quickly and effectively transform these districts. The broad contours of the programme are Convergence (of Central & State Schemes), Collaboration (of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors), and Competition among districts driven by a mass Movement. Though newly created, today Namsai is one of fastest growing districts of state. It is well connected with world class highways. Also several educational institutions are also coming up in the district. There is no doubt that Namsai district deserves care and attention of state government but some of the backward districts of state also equally deserve to be declared as aspirational district. In future while selecting aspirational district, state government looks into these issues. Let the truly deserving one be included under aspirational district porgramme.
