ITANAGAR, Oct 27: The state champion girls’ U-17 football team of GHSS Doimukh left here for New Delhi on Saturday to participate in the 59th International Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament which began in New Delhi on 25 October.
This is the first girls’ U-17 team from the state to participate in the tournament.
Prior to their departure, the players participated in an interaction programme at the secondary education directorate, during which Secondary Education Director Gania Leij wished the team luck and said it is a proud moment for the department that the girl students would be showcasing their potential in the prestigious tournament.
Papum Pare DDSE (Y/S) S Ronrang, assistant state coordinator P Devid Singh, Sports & Youth Services coordinator PT Dingla, and the GHSS Doimukh principal also wished the team all the best.
Ronrang is the chef de mission, Nabam Rana is the team coach, and Pisa Yabi is the team manager.
