ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) has announced 12-hour Kra Daadi district bandh on 18 February in protest against non fulfilment of various demands.
While intimating the Kra Daadi deputy commissioner about its proposed bandh call, the AKDDSU said that it had on 29 January served an ultimatum, demanding the DC to ensure proper implementation of the Chief Minister’s Samast Shiksha Yojana in the district by properly selecting the deserving schools.
It alleged biased selection of schools for implementation of the scheme, saying that “many deserving schools, which should have been selected, were deprived from the scheme.”
The union had demanded reconstitution of the selection board involving the district and branch students’ unions, and to complete the selection process within 10 days, failing which the AKDDSU had threatened to launch a democratic movement in the district.
Students appearing in examination along with teachers on duty, Nyokum committee, essential and emergency services, like milk van, ambulance, magistrate on duty etc have been exempted from the purview of the bandh, the AKDDSU said.
