NAHARLAGUN, Oct 31: Along with the rest of the country, World Thrift Day was celebrated on Monday here at the Administrative Training Institute in Naharlagun.
In this connection, a programme was organized by the Directorate of Small Savings with active participation of National Savings Institute, Ministry of Finance, Guwahati Regional Centre.
Resource persons S Borthakur, Head of Programme Executive of DDK, Itanagar, Anil Mech, PG Teacher, VKV School, Chimpu and Aman Sonker, Assistant Director, National Savings Institute gave elaborate talks about savings habit.
Director of Small Savings, Md Abdul Basit stressed on the need for savings for national development and urged the agents to be more equipped with latest rules and regulations of Small Savings Schemes to enable them to work in the field more conveniently.
He also asked the agents to give awareness to the public about the thrift, and to develop the habit of savings and avoid investment in chit funds, which are unsecured.
The Director of Small Savings also distributed certificates among the agents who got first, second and third positions in the state on Small Savings collection.
