RUNNE, Aug 5: Over 150 farmers from Runne and Takilalung villages benefitted from a ‘Kharif krishak sammelan and farmers-scientists interaction on doubling farmers’ income’, organised at Runne village in East Siang district by the KVK and the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) on Monday.
Addressing the farmers, Imphal (Manipur)-based Central Agriculture University Vice Chancellor, Prof M Premjit Singh, advised them to adopt suitable technology for enhancing their income. He stressed on the importance of quality seeds and planting materials to cater to the demand of the consumers.
Prof Singh also distributed seedlings to the farmers.
CHF Dean Prof BN Hazarika highlighted the technological support extended by the institute for the development of the farming community.
Progressive farmers Kaling Taloh, Alen Tanin and Takali Tamuk spoke on how to best utilize inputs provided by the institute.
The programme was coordinated by the KVK’s plant protection scientist Toge Riba.
