ROING, Oct 21: A weeklong awareness programme on school safety, with special focus on earthquake, flood and fire safety measures, concluded at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Monday.
The programme, which began on 14 October at the government higher secondary school in Dambuk, saw the participation of over 2000 students, GBs, SMCs, villagers, and officials from the education department.
The district disaster management officer (DDMO) urged the school authorities to install school safety equipment like fire extinguishers, sand buckets, etc, and “prepare a school disaster management plan.”
The DDMO also advised the students to use minimum number of crackers during the Diwali celebration this year, in order to avoid fire accidents and air pollution. (DIPRO)
