ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Stating that “non-payment of NFSA bills from 2017 to 2019” has put severe financial constraints on the PDS contractors, the All Arunachal Pradesh PDS NFSA Carriage Contractor Welfare Association on Thursday served an ultimatum to the chief minister, seeking his intervention in the matter of releasing the pending bill payment till August 2019.
The association claimed that, despite the Centre’s releasing its financial share to the state government, no payment has been released by the department, and that the state government has also not released its share as per the NFSA, 2013.
“As per the NFSA, 2013, the advance payment shall be made to the PDS wholesale nominee-cum-carriage contractor quarterly from the state government, and the said bill paid shall be reimbursed by the central government, but it has never been implemented. Due to such lackadaisical attitude on the part of state government, all carriage contractors are facing acute financial shortage in transporting the essential commodities,” the association said, and threatened to halt transportation of PDS supplies and NFSA essential commodities from August 2019 till their demand is met.
