ITANAGAR, Nov 24: Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have in separate messages greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Chalo Loku festival.
In his message, the governor expressed hope that the socio-religious festival of the Nocte people of Tirap district would usher in peace and brotherhood among the fellow citizens of the state.
“I join my Nocte brethren in offering prayer to the almighty Rang for socio-cultural and socioeconomic wellbeing of all,” Mishra said.
Khandu in his message described Chalo Loku as the most important agricultural festival of the Noctes.
“While thanking the almighty for a bountiful harvest this season, I join my Nocte brethren in offering prayers for a better season next year,” Khandu said in his message.
“Ours is a distinct state with several tribes and communities residing side by side for ages, maintaining their own unique indigenous cultures and traditions. I believe this celebration of Chalo Loku would prove a major catalyst towards achieving the goal of unity in diversity,” he added. (Raj Bhavan & CMO)
