ITANAGAR, Mar 27: Governor BD Mishra has appealed to the state’s NGOs, particularly the community- and religion-based organizations, as well as the state Red Cross Society, to create awareness among the people about Covid-19, and to take all prophylactic measures against the spread of the disease.
The appeal comes following the governor’s participation in the video conference President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu had on Friday with the governors, lieutenant governors and administrators of the country.
The president and the vice president advised the governors to involve the Red Cross Societies, religious groups and NGOs and motivate the private sector business houses in the concerted fight against Covid-19.
Advising maintaining physical distancing, Mishra urged all to avoid public gatherings in their areas and to use all precautionary measures against the coronavirus disease.
He also suggested “bringing out of literature about Covid-19 in vernacular languages.”
The governor said he will be taking up with Union Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, “all needed help for the state to fight Covid-19.”
“The requirement of testing kits and personal protective equipment are being projected to the union health minister,” he added. (Raj Bhavan)
