ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal had a marathon meeting with the All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) representatives on November 1 last and had assured them that their grievances pertaining to enhancement of salaries would be submitted to the Cabinet for its decision.
The issue relating to filling up of the backlog vacancies, if any, as per the decision of the Cabinet shall be examined and necessary action would be taken after obtaining approval from the government, a release said.
Despite the Chief Secretary’s full assurances of resolving the grievances, the AASSATA executives went ahead with their first phase of agitation from November 6 to 8, hence it was declared illegal by the government.
However, the second phase of the agitation by AASSATA was called off after the government had reiterated its assurances to address their grievances by submitting the same to the Cabinet and the government for taking a decision, a departmental release said.
Apart from the executive members of AASSATA, the meeting was attended by the Commissioner Finance, GoAP, the Director Elementary Education, State Project Director, SSA, Rajya Mission and other officers of the Education Department, the release added.
