E/Kameng DC seeks support to achieve ODF status

SEPPA, Aug 31: District Swachh Bharat Mission Management Committee (DSBMMC) Chairman, Rajeev Takuk urged all PRI members, NGOs, administration and general public to actively participate in the Swachh Bharat Mission and help the district achieve Open Defecation Free (ODF) status.
Addressing a district-level review meeting, Takuk, who is also the Deputy Commissioner, emphasized on construction of Individual House Hold Latrines (IHHL) and discussed on the roadmap to achieve ODF status by December 2017, on Tuesday last.
Takuk further announced cash rewards of Rs1, 00,000 to ADCs, Rs 50,000 to blocks and Rs 20,000 to gaon burahs of villages that achieve100 percent ODF status first in the entire district.
Executive Engineer, PHED cum Member Secretary DSBMMC, Bharat Sonam gave a Power Point presentation on the ‘Status and Figures of IHHL’ in the district.
He informed of the 6191 units (inclusive of all additional, insanitary, dysfunctional/non-existent toilets), which are to be constructed by December 2017, according to the new AO3 format. He also stressed on speeding up ODF verification process along with the construction of IHHLs to update the progress status on the SBM portal.
