Hrusso mobile dictionary launched

ITANAGAR, Sep 1: Hrusso mobile dictionary and online resources has been launched on Thursday during a seminar on Aka(Hrusso) Orthography conducted by the Aka (Hrusso) Elite Society at a hotel in Bhalukpong.
Launching the dictionary on Thursday , MLA-cum-Parliamentary Secretary PHED, WS&ES, Kumsi Sidisow highlighted highlighted the importance of preserving one’s own mother tongue and further assured that he would pass the Hrusso language as third language in the Assembly.
Later, Father Vijay D’souza, SJ, University of Oxford, UK presented his scientific study on Hrusso orthography.
Speaking on the richness of Hrusso language, Father D’souza briefed that many species of flora and fauna existing in the Hrusso region have indigenous names. He also highlighted the use of different levels of vocabulary among different age groups and places and Mugow’s (Priest) unique style of vocabulary in chanting prayers. He spoke on how the rich Hrusso language is facing threat of extinction as per his study and UNESCO’s survey 2009.
