ROING, Sep 23: A two-year-old child was killed on the spot after she was run over by a speeding car near the District Hospital here on Saturday at around 1 pm.
The child has been identified as Nangku Sonar, daughter of Bharot Sonar.
According to eye witnesses, the child was completely run over by the front wheels of the car and when it stopped, the baby lay trapped under its rear wheels.
The child was then rushed to the hospital by her mother for medical treatment.
The accident occurred when she wandered into the road while her mother was buying medicines at a pharmacy near the hospital.
The child was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors, informed IO SI Abraham Taying.
The post mortem has been conducted and the results are awaited.
The vehicle involved in the accident has been seized and the driver, identified as the EO, Fishery arrested, informed Taying.
A case Under Section 279/304 (A) IPC has been registered against the driver.
