SHILLONG, Sep 23: Power supply to Arunachal Bhawan, Meghalaya was disconnected by the Meghalaya Power Department, allegedly due to non-payment of electricity bill amounting to Rs 8 lakhs.
Deputy Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Bhawan in Shillong, Marge Sora said, “The electricity bill of the Bhawan is directly handled by the PWD, Itanagar”.
Before the disconnection, the DRC said he had pursued for early payment of the bill after the Power Department from Meghalaya served notice for early payment.
When contacted, the concerned AE of PWD at Itanagar clarified that the bill is already put up for clearance and will be paid soon.
There have been few other instances of disconnection of power supply to Arunachal Bhawan on earlier occasions too for the same reason.
