GAF seek CBI investigation into hydro power project scam

ITANAGAR, Oct 12: While welcoming the state government’s decision to hand over the case of PDS scam of Arunachal Pradesh to CBI, Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) Chairman Takam Tatung demanded that the Hydro Power project scam wherein name of prominent politician of state has been named should also be treated at par and handed over to CBI.
“I appreciate the state government’s decision to hand over the PDS scam to CBI. But I would like to urge the government to treat all the scams at par and hand over the Hydro Power Project scam too to CBI. That way BJP would be proving its promises of fighting corruption”, said Tatung.
In a press statement Tatung also announced that along with many of the former leaders of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), he would be boycotting the forthcoming Golden Jubilee celebration of the union at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar on the 15th of October next.
“AAPSU has for decades been fighting on the Chakma-Hajong refugee issue. Now the apex students’ body has invited MoS Home Kiren Rijiju as a special guest. He would never understand the sentiments of the students’ body as he was never associated with AAPSU. Therefore, I decline to attend any programme where a person who patronises the causes of refugees (Chakma, Hajong and Tibetan) is also participating”, Tatung opined.
Tatung further reminded AAPSU that Rijiju once assured the students of ‘No Election, No Solution’ in response to the students’ stance of ‘No Solution, No Election’ during a meeting in 2004 at the conference hall of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital. Instead of solving the issue, he has been patronising the refugees after holding an important portfolio in the central cabinet. Moreover, he failed to take up and carry on the High Power Committee (HPC) that was constituted in 2010 to look into the refugee issue with the participation of the central government and all the stakeholders. He seems to be turning a deaf ear to the problems and predicaments of the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh, the GAF added.
