PASIGHAT, Oct 20: A team of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) and East Siang district police has conducted a joint operation at Pasighat where they seized 2 elephant tusks, 4 live Tokey Gecko lizards and 235 bottles of IMFL from GTC area and JKM check gate along Trans Arunachal Highway on Wednesday.
The joint team headed by Dy. SP, Torum Makcha and SI V Lowang and SI W Wangrey and WASE memebrs recovered elephant tusks and Gecko lizards from one Onyok Modi at GTC, Pasighat.
Weighing 720 grams, the elephant tusks has the market value of around Rs 2 lakhs, while 4 Gecko lizards valued in lakhs, informed OC, Pasighat PS, Atan Taki.
The person was detained and a case has been registered against him under AP Excise Act and Wildlife Protection Act 1972, informed the police. Further investigation is going on.
