Centre assures smart city

ITANAGAR, Oct 26: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri has assured Arunachal Pradesh for selection of Itanagar under Smart city proposal within a short period of time.
This assurance came in response to a memorandum submitted by Urban Development, Housing and Town Planning Minister, Nabam Rebia during a review meeting on Prime Minister’s Flagship Programmes under Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs held for North East states at Guwahati on Thursday.
On request of Rebia, both the Union Minister and Union Secretary of concern department also assured to sanction all the urban development projects in the north eastern region, which were submitted earlier to the central government under ADB funding.
The Union Ministry assured that the development of Arunachal Pradesh should not be hampered due to intervention of China, according to an official release.
The Union Minister further informed that the project period for all the projects under 10 percent lump sum funding for North East Region has been extended for a period of three years. He suggested for early completion of the projects and also to submit new project proposals to the ministry for further funding.
The Union Minister also assured to release the central assistance of first instalment against Pasighat Smart City at the earliest.
Later, he handed over the sanction order of the Government of India amounting to Rs 1.63 crore against Balance Differential Central Assistance for 4805 IHHL units under SBM (Urban) and Rs 2 lakh against PMAY-HFA(U) mission to Nabam Rebia, the release added.
Rebia also assured to expedite implementation of the Urban Development and Town Planning projects and programmes of Smart City at Pasighat and PMAY, AMRUT, SBM, NULM. IHHL etc in Arunachal Pradesh.
On invitation, the Union Minister of state assured to visit the state along with his team of officers in the future.
