FIR against “fake appointments” in health dept, APCC hits back at govt

ITANAGAR, Oct 31: An FIR has been filed in the Naharlagun Police Station on October 23 last by Health and Family Welfare Special Secretary Dr Tapasya Raghav and Director of Health Services, Dr M Lego, claiming that “fake appointment orders” of Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs), bearing signatures of higher officials, are in circulation.
The alleged fake appointment orders were reportedly signed by other higher officials of the Health Department, including Dr A Yirang, Dr Moji Jini and Dr M Lego.
The officials claimed that they did not issue any such appointment orders and the signature of Dr A Yirang is also reportedly not his. The officials sought investigation into the fake appointment case and necessary action against the culprit(s).
However, addressing reporters on the occasion of the 33rd Martyrdom Day of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at the Congress Bhavan on Tuesday, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Takam Sanjoy said that the FIR was merely an attempt to save their own skin in the entire fiasco.
Sanjoy made serious allegations on Drug Inspector Tsewang Gyatso of handing out fake appointment orders to around 300 people as Multi Purpose Workers in the Health Department in various districts across the state under the authority of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
He claimed that the name of the Drug Inspector was deliberately not included anywhere as he is a cousin of the Chief Minister.
The Congress Chief also claimed that the Drug Inspector charged somewhere between Rs 3 to 7 lakh for each appointment, and handed out a few appointment orders of candidates to the press.
However, the party did not have any concrete proof to show that Gyatso had any role in giving out the appointments.
Claiming involvement of the Chief Minister, the Congress demanded that Pema take moral responsibility and step down from the Chief Minister’s chair.
“If the Bharatiya janata Party (BJP) or the state government does not initiate appropriate investigation, we will go for a jail bharo andolan in the days to come”, Sanjoy said.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Arunachal Times, Gyatso refuted the allegations and said that it was not right for the Congress party to drag his name in an issue which he had no role in merely because he is the CM’s cousin.
“A staggering number of 300 appointments is not a joke and I have no authority to issue such appointments”, he said, adding that the Congress party should question those in authority instead.
