SALARI, Dec 10: A group of 25 farmers and SHG members from Salari and Nafra villages benefited from a two-day training programme on processing of locally available fruits and vegetables.
The programme, which concluded on Sunday, was organised at the Defence Research Laboratory (DSL) here in West Kameng district by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), and conducted by scientists from the Mysore-based Defence Food Research Laboratory, the New Delhi-based DRDO, and the Tezpur (Assam)-based DRL.
The training featured demonstration of the hurdle technology for pineapple, osmo-dehydrated oranges, crystallized ginger candy, tomato products, etc.
“More such training programmes will be conducted to encourage the locals to develop self-sustained food processing units, and to provide them with the market linkage for exports,” informed APEDA Assistant General Manager Sunita Rai.
