DAMBUEN, Dec 10: A team from Rajiv Gandhi University’s Centre with Potential for Excellence in Biodiversity on Friday apprised the villagers here of the insect bio resources in Dibang Valley district.
During the interaction, the university’s Zoology Department Assistant Professor, Dr Hiren Gogoi, stressed on conserving the honeybees in the region, including the Himalayan high-altitude endemic cliff bee, Apislaboriosa.
With input from EAC Toni Mitkong and the villagers, the team confirmed the presence of at least four species of wild silk moths in the area, out of the 13 recorded in Arunachal Pradesh.
The team also documented bumblebees and other insect pollinators in the area.
