NAHARLAGUN, Dec 19: Five-time champion Lower Subansiri will look to reclaim the title when they meet two-time champion Capital Complex in the final of the 16th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Wednesday.
Lower Subansiri entered into the final with a hard-fought penalty shootout (7-6) win over Kra Daadi. On the other hand, Capital Complex secured a place in the final defeating defending champion West Siang.
Capital Complex will miss the services of attacking midfielder Tadar Kojum and midfielder Tadar Tachung. They have been ruled out of the final match after they failed to recover from the injuries that they sustained in the semi-final match, informed Coach Kipa Bharat.
Refusing to disclose the match strategy, Bharat, however, said: “In a game, both offence and defence are important.”
“Wednesday’s match will be the fifth final of the Capital Complex under my coaching, but the team has not yet won the tournament title under my guidance,” the coach said.
Bharat exuded confidence that the team would be able to break the jinx this time.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) General Secretary Kipa Ajay informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu will attended the final match.
The APFA general secretary stated that the chief minister’s presence at the final match would not only boost the morale of the organizers, who have taken a lot of pain to conduct the tournament, but also encourage the players.
