PASIGHAT, Dec 29: Progressive potato growers participated in a training programme on potato cultivation organized at the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Friday under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Potato (AICRP-Potato).
CHF Dean, Dr AK Pandey, emphasized the importance of potato as part of people’s daily diet, and stressed the need for efficient utilization of natural resources.
He also highlighted the benefits of micro-irrigation, processing, and value-addition of potato.
AICRP-Potato’s Vegetable Science Department Head Dr Pranabjyoti Sarma explained the improved potato production technology.
Dr Pandey later inaugurated a farmhouse of the vegetable science department.
The farmers were taken on a field visit to a potato field, where they were shown a demonstration on potato production.
