NAMSAI, Dec 30: Farmers in Chongkham, Alubari, Naputia, and Kaisu villages in Namsai district are participating in a ‘training-cum-demonstration’ programme on oyster mushroom production which was launched by the KVK at those villages on 28 December.
The programme is aimed at popularizing oyster mushroom production and encouraging the farmers to grow mushrooms to generate income.
Scientists from the KVK demonstrated techniques of mushroom culture, and encouraged women SHGs to take up large-scale mushroom production.
The units in different villages will be maintained by women farmers and SHGs. They have been provided with mushroom spawns as part of the programme.
