ULFA (I) hideout in Arunachal busted

JAIRAMPUR, Jan 6: The Jairampur battalion of the Assam Rifles busted a temporary hideout of the ULFA (Independent) during an operation carried out near Namdapha Reserve Forest on Friday.
Based on specific intelligence about the presence of militants trying to terrorize and carry out extortion activities in Miao circle, a unit of the AR’s Jairampur battalion launched an operation in the reserved forest in the night of 5 January.
The troops surrounded the temporary hideout and in subsequent search recovered blank extortion notes, opium, and other administrative stores from the area.
The ULFA cadre had been using the hideout as a place of transit, informed Kohima based defence PRO, Col C Konwer.
