East Siang aims to achieve 100 per cent MRVC

PASIGHAT, Jan 23: The East Siang District Task Force for Immunization in a coordination meeting here on Tuesday reviewed prepared for the Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) in the district with a desired goal of achieving cent percent coverage.
The district targets to cover 28147 children aged 9 months to below 15 years during the month-long vaccination programme starting from 1 February. The campaign will also cover Ramle Banggo areas.
EAC (HQ) Oli Perme, who chaired the meeting on behalf of the deputy commissioner, urged the Health department officials and other stakeholders to make every effort to achieve the immunization target on time.
“The programme is under strict monitoring and all stakeholders must work hard for the success of the MR vaccination campaign,” she said.
Earlier, Dr T Gao highlighted the details about micro planning, manpower, vaccination sites and other measures in place for the campaign through PowerPoint.
Dr Gao called for proper orientation of all ANMs and ASHA workers, fram sevikas, health assistants, anganwadi workers and ICDS supervisors to be involved in the drive.
He also emphasized the role of nodal teachers, headmasters, principals and supervisors (ICDS) and stakeholders like PRI members, parents, religious institutions and social organizations for success of the vaccination programme.
The success of the programme depends a lot on proper coordination of medical officers in-charge and the school authorities, he added.
Dr Gao informed that six crore children have been vaccinated so far throughout the country.
DMO Dr Mandip Perme said that no child must be left unvaccinated.
The implementation of the MRVC is under strict monitoring of the Centre and the state government, the DMO said, and urged all involved in the campaign to ensure 100% coverage by sincerely implementing the micro planning in schools and anganwadi centres.
ICDS Deputy Director Ponung Ering Angu briefed on the orientation activities organized for the ASHA and angawadi workers for smooth conduct of the immunization programme.
DDSE J Yirang also called upon the principals, headmasters and BEOs to extend full support and ensure proper coordination with the Health department so that all targeted students are vaccinated. (DIPRO)
