Capital may face short-length power disruptions

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Residents of some sectors of the Capital Complex may face short-length disruptions in electricity supply as the Ranganadi Hydroelectric Project (RHEP) will undergo a total shutdown from 7 am to 3 pm on 28 January, and from 8 am to 3 pm on 29 January.
More short-length disruptions are likely to occur on 12 February and 16 February, as the RHEP’s Lekhi transmission line will shut down from 7 am to 3 pm on both days.
‘During the shutdown, power supply to Capital Complex will be fed from the Gohpur-Itanagar transmission line via Assam grid,’ the Operation Coordination Committee of the North Eastern Regional Power Committee, which approved the shutdown, informed on Thursday.
It said although power disruption in the Capital Complex is not expected, disruptions of short length may occur in some sectors during the switching from one system to another.
‘Power supply from the RHEP to the rest of the state shall be affected during daytime only. However, wherever 33 kv or 11 kv interstate transmission exists, the power supply to the rest of the state shall be fed from Assam,’ it said.
