RONO HILLS, Jan 29: Around 40 NSS programme officers are participating in a three-day training of trainers (ToT) programme on ‘Youth and peace-building’ which began at Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) IDE conference hall here on Monday.
The programme is organised jointly by the university’s Centre for Youth Development and Leadership Studies (CYDLS) and the Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu)-based Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD).
The programme will cover issues related to peace and conflict, such as techniques of conflict management, involvement of youths in conflicts, roles of stakeholders in peace-building, and the contribution and efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates like the Dalai Lama.
The programme was inaugurated by Special Secretary to Chief Minister, Himanshu Gupta.
Gupta highlighted the need of youths’ involvement in nation-building and in the state’s development, while RGNIYD professor Dr Vasanthi Rajedran spoke about the contribution of the RGNIYD in the area of youth development.
The inaugural session was chaired by RGU History professor Tana Showren, and was attended by Arunodaya University VC Dr VN Sharma, RGNIYD assistant professor Dr Rambabu Botcha, CYDLS chairperson Dr Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, and CYDLS member secretary Gomar Basar, among others.
