ITANAGAR, Feb 8: Social activist Payi Gyadi has appealed to the state government to extend the 30-year land lease period in the state to 99 years.
In a representation to the chief minister and the chief secretary, Gyadi said unemployed youths in the state are unable to get bank loans against their land allotment documents as the bank authorities feel insecure because of the 30-year land lease period.
Claiming that only the government employees of the state are getting bank loans with their service documents, Gyadi urged the state government to formulate a better land policy to encourage the youths to take up self-employment activities and support the growth of the state’s economy.
‘Just for obtaining a trading licence, the unemployed people of the state are facing many hurdles as they have to approach many departments and government agencies for documents,’ he stated in the representation.
Due to hardship in obtaining documents or due to difficult official formalities, some of the flagship programmes of the central government have not been implemented yet, Gyadi claimed.
