TEZU, Feb 9: Governor Dr BD Mishra on Friday inspected Parasuram Kund in Lohit district in order to acquire firsthand knowledge about the pilgrimage site.
Accompanied by DC Karma Leki and other officials, Dr Mishra inspected the infrastructure and other facilities constructed for the pilgrims.
He advised the officials to ensure holistic development of the area, “linking economic empowerment of the local communities, amenities for the pilgrims, and inclusive development the pilgrimage site.”
Earlier, the governor met the local people, including gaon burahs, panchayat members and public leaders of Wakro and Parsuram Kund areas, and shared his concern regarding opium cultivation, drug abuse, and the gun culture. He stressed on providing alternative sources of livelihood to opium cultivators in order to wean them away from the bad practice.
He also exhorted the people to register their resistance against the gun culture.
“For peace and development, people must be motivated to stand against violence, extortion and insurgency,” he said. (PRO)
