PASIGHAT, Feb 15: The East Siang District Industries Centre (DIC) organised a skill development rally-cum-job mela here on Wednesday.
The training was conducted by six vocational training providers from RIMT, Orion Edutech, O2 SPA, OSSOMO, Tata Strive, and Ultimate Resource.
Industries Deputy Director M Jamoh, who inaugurated the programme, advised the trainees to take advantage of government programmes aimed at ameliorating the condition of the state’s unemployed youths.
“The department provides such programmes to provide employment opportunities to jobseekers in various fields, and to start self-sustaining ventures in and outside the state,” he said.
Industries Assistant Director M Megu informed that 247 candidates were registered by the VTPs, “while 138 were temporarily registered by the DIC for trades like handloom and textiles, driver-cum-mechanic, etc, due to non-participation of related VTPs after advertisement.” (DIPRO)
