Lost opportunity

The non announcement of any special package for Arunachal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s during his visit to state seems to dampen the mood of the people. Considering the fact that this was his second visit to state as Prime Minister and first since BJP came to power in the state, there was huge expectation. But Modi did not make any announcement. In the last 4 years Arunachal has suffered a lot due to political instability. Development has taken back seat as leaders are busy in trying to dislodge government after government. After lot of difficulties, the present Pema Khandu led BJP government has managed to bring in some stability.
Therefore PM Modi could have further strengthened the hand of CM Khandu by announcing special package for the state. It would have send out a strong message to people of Arunachal that central BJP leaders back him and are committed to help Arunachal. Modi lost a golden opportunity to solidify the BJP government in the state. Despite state witnessing constant political instability, CM Khandu has managed to complete many of the pending development projects which have given ray of hope to the people of Arunachal. The young CM needs backing of centre in order to fulfill the vision envisage by him for the state. This was the best occasion for central BJP leaders to show absolute backing to Khandu. They lost an opportunity and it has given ammunition to opposition Congress to mock at BJP. In the long run it might come back to haunt BJP.
