ITANAGAR, Feb 28: The Education and Cultural Development Society (ECDS) questioned the sincerity of the central government towards resolving the issues concerning the NERIST and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Jote.
The society alleged that though the NERIST has been functioning without regular director for the last two years, the Government of India is showing lackadaisical attitude towards it.
The ECDS alleged that the central government has stopped funding the ongoing construction of infrastructure at NIT Jote, thereby hampering the growth of the fledging institute.
It urged the BJP led Government of Arunachal to seek help from the centre and resolve the issues concerning both the prestigious institutes.
Further, the ECDS has urged Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju to play active role in order to resolve the crisis.
“Earlier, there was Congress government in Arunachal and therefore Rijiju claimed that he had difficulty in carrying out work due to political division. But now there is BJP government in both the state and centre. He has to play proactive role to usher in era of development in Arunachal,” said the ECDS.
The society further urged Member of Parliament Mukut Mithi and Ninong Ering to raise issues like NERIST and NIT in the floor of parliament, which are of state interest.
