ITANAGAR, Mar 14: The 18-member bullet club riders of Silchar Thumpers arrived in the Capital on Wednesday evening for the Run and Ride rally cancer awareness programme scheduled for 15 March.
The riders have arrived from Tezpur, where they interacted with the people, creating awareness on cancer, risk factors, sign and symptoms, its preventive measures, research aspects and treatment modalities.
The Silchar Thumpers will be joined by The Gliding Piranhas Motorcycle Club from the capital in the programme.
The State Cancer Society of Arunachal Pradesh (SCSAP) will hold a walkathon on Thursday morning, followed by awareness talks on cancer by doctors and others.
The riders will be then given a send-off for their next destination, Dibrugarh.
In a bid to create mass awareness on cancer in the North East Region, the Tata Trusts, in collaboration with the National Cancer Grid and Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Silchar is organising the Run and Ride campaign, which will cover seven North East states.
