HAWAI, Mar 22: The Anjaw District Election Office, following directive of the Election Commission of India/Chief Electoral Officer, started voters’ education programme in the district by launching a network centre at Hayuliang community hall on Wednesday.
The District Election Officer (DEO) instructed the schools to launch Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) before 25 March.
The ECI, in a notification on 3 December, 2017 instructed CEOs of the states and UTs to establish ELCs in schools, colleges and communities to educate the future voters and first-time voters about voter registration and the electoral process.
The nodal officer of ELC and ELC designated schools, designated officers, supervisors and BLOs were present on the occasion.
Dr Tojum Ete called upon everyone to teach the young voters about the entire electoral process, including the value of their vote and the need to exercise their adult franchise.
Project Director Mito Dirchi imparted training on ELC to all the officials concerned as district level master trainer.
S K Singh, Lecturer, DRC Khupa and AERO Chaglongam Aniyang Ratan also spoke on the occasion. (DIPRO)
