ZIRO, Mar 23: The Apatani Youth Association (AYA) has refused to buy the argument of the Lower Subansiri district BJP unit that the association did not approach either the district BJP or union minister Kiren Rijiju for a meeting during his recent visit to Ziro and tried to meet him only when he was rushing back to the airfield.
Terming the allegation baseless, the AYA clarified that the association had in fact approached the office of the local MLA a couple of days before the MP’s visit, and it also conveyed its message to the OSD through the protocol officer of Ziro to meet him.
‘The earlier resentment towards the union minister was due to a communication gap which was created by district BJP president,’ the AYA claimed, adding that now the association and the home ministry officials ‘are coming to certain positive terms.’
The AYA also described the district BJP president as a ‘self-vested interest and arrogant leader.’
‘”He (Rijiju) came here only for us (BJP workers)” – this was reply of the BJP district president when he was questioned following the failed meeting at the airfield,’ the AYA claimed.
