PASIGHAT, Mar 26: The eight-day training programme on ‘Forest nursery and plantation techniques’ for personnel of the Forest and line departments of the state concluded at the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Monday.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Pasighat Divisional Forest Officer Tabang Jamoh dwelt on the current progress of sapling plantation in the region, and explained the importance of modern nursery and plantation techniques in forestry.
“The field staff must be equipped with plantation techniques to ensure better survivability of planted trees,” he said.
CHF Dean Dr AK Pandey highlighted the importance of forests for wood, fruits, fodder, fibre, “and many other intangible services they provide for the growing population in the present scenario.”
College of Agriculture Dean Dr BN Hazarika, spoke about the healthy involvement of the Forest department in conservation and plantation programmes, and Pasighat Range Officer Jumgo Geyi focused on the region’s people’s awareness and interest in conservation and plantation programmes.
Senior professor Dr Rajan Bawa and Dr SD Warade also spoke.
